Ugly Stick

This Morning I opened my morning copy of METRO to be confronted with a hideous sight, one nearly as disturbing as the half-page spread of Shia Moslems in Iraq cutting their heads with swords some weeks ago. Now I’m not usually one to be so critical of a person’s looks as we are all allotted our lot in the beauty stakes at birth and can do little to change that in life. However, if one has been given a jolly good poke with the ugly stick is it too much to ask that you do not court the public lime-light and assault my senses? This morning I was greeted by a picture of Sarah Jessica Parker of Sex and the City fame who was handing out prizes at the CFDA Fashion awards . Now here is a woman who ten years from now will be able to curdle milk with a glance and I find it amazing that the fashion world would choose such a frightful visage to promote their image.
