No Pubic Inquiry Then
![]() |
| Doesn’t seem so far fetched now. |
In a country where it is commonplace to hold a public inquiry at the drop of a hat the news that there is to be no public inquiry into the worst terrorist attack in peacetime was greeted with a puzzling silence from the mainstream press (excepting the Daily Mail which screamed the news on its front page). Somehow I was not the slightest bit surprised which shows how low the democratic process has fallen but then most Britains are now more concerned with Christmas preparations than politics right now and its just another good time to bury bad news. Naturally survivors of the attack are shocked but their rights seem to be of little concern to this government. After all the rights under law of people in this country seem to be falling at an astonishing rate whether victim or suspect. Without a doubt the internet conspiracy theorists are going to have a field day with this news and who can blame them as it smells pretty bad whatever your political leaning. Odd that it should mirror the American administration’s reluctance to hold an enquiry following 9/11, which was eventually granted but was widely held to be a whitewash leaving many questions unanswered. Whatever you do don’t go and protest about it though as there is now an exclusion zone around parliament forbidding even a protest of one, unless you get permission from the police in advance of course.
Update : Times Online article claims lack of key facts rule out inquiry.
