The Passing of a Year

Wolfie — January 1, 2006, 3:37 pm

This year our New Year celebrations were a low key affair at home with family in front of the television with Jools Holand’s Hootenanny and a cracking selection of music as one has come to expect of him. As we raised our glasses at midnight to toast in the New Year the skyline (see the top of this page) erupted with fireworks from every corner in a broad vista of joy and hope for a new year, I’ve lived here for some years but to date I’ve never seen anything quite like it. It was truly beautiful to see and somehow the more personal nature of each small display seemed more heart-warming than any impressive public display.

So here’s to 2006 and all the possibilities that it may bring.

I thought those fireworks were quite impressive.
