"This is just the lull before the storm I’m afraid.
Same thing I've been saying.

Ham-fisted diplomacy, yep, although it did inspire such continued outrage with Islamic societies that it's helped a lot to wake the world up. The proverbial "silver lining". To that extent I wonder if all that clumsyness could have been planned.??

I know Bin Laden has a huge gripe against the Saudi royal family, as they rejected his overly overt desire to attack the West as being against their financial interests. He wants them to be much more Wahhabist and the family, which is huge and powerful, much prefers to continue being rich and enjoy the forbidden pleasures of the West when it likes. There has been an ongoing conspiracy within Saudi Arabia for decades to depose the royal family, it's just never gained enough strength. This is why the US continues to be apologists for Saudi Arabia. The family itself is far less a danger than the Wahhabist sect within the country, and they will actually help us fight it when it comes to cleaning out the Al Queda part, which threatens it as well. In doing that, the family is safe from criticism within its own Islamic faction, and, we need the oil.

The fact that Islam is so divided and simultaneously filled with hate works both for us and against us. For us in the oil-rich states, against us in situations like Iraq.

And as for death threats, the ones I received on Pub Philosopher were adequate to convince me to practice anonymity when I put up a blog. I've taken considerable precautions. I've given hints on part of my ancestry, which could fit perhaps 100 million Americans. The name I gave of my Irish grandmother was false, tho she was Irish. So what you say makes good sense.

I appreciate your contributive and constructive post this morning and this is response in kind. For my part I'll be happy to keep it like this.

Hi Rastaman. I used to comment quite a lot on the progress of "the war on terror" and Middle-Eastern politics, however this elicited some quite serious threats. After my girlfriend (now wife) spotted one which demonstrated they knew of my movements I deleted all posts relating to these subjects and disabled comments. I only re-enabled comment posting a few months ago.

A terrorist strike on US soil at this time would benefit GWB more than Al Qaeda. Bin Laden has moved his strategy onto the next phase, hence the attempted attack on Saudi Arabia's Abqaiq facility. The two wars compounded with ham-fisted deplomacy have provided the perfect recruitment drive for Al Qaeda, all they have to do now is sit back and wait. Its an out-source economy these days but nailing a few patsies just makes America look even weaker to these people and thus embolden them farther. This is just the lull before the storm I'm afraid.

I've been going thru your archives. All those posts. All those 0 comments. For a year and a half. No wonder you've taken to attacking people for attention. Does it upset you that I put up a brand new blog and am getting a lot of traffic?

About not "getting your dry English humor", let's see what I missed... We both agree Mousaoui is nuts, that he may have made up a lot of stuff, that the prosecution could care less as long as they convict him--- and neither do I for that matter---- That covers your original post. Nothing was missed.

As to the FBI, since we haven't been hit again I think they must be doing ok.

Wolfie, you may be the sanest man writing on the damned internet. I'm not being facaecious when I say this, merely as objective as I can manage given the restraints of mortality and so on.
I'm glad you can be bothered to try telling the truth to this cloth-eared World. Good luck.

Hello Rastaman, good of you to drop by. However, it still seems apparent that you are not "getting" my dry English sarcasm so let me elucidate a little for you.

Clearly the stun-belt theory is speculative bunkum (amusing that it is), but it is fairly obvious that this man is either a loon or a patsy, maybe even both. If he does have any connection with Bin Laden's network it is highly peripheral but it is more likely that he is nothing more than a wannabe jihadist and prone to fantasy and delusions of grandeur. He wants his 15 minutes of fame and by golly the American state have given it to him on a plate. Bin Laden is a CIA trained mudjahadin fighter who kept the Russians at bay for years and has evaded capture by the most powerful nation in the world for five years. Do you think he would be foolish enough to let this imbecile into his inner sanctum? Seems improbable to me but the prosecutors want us to believe that and most likely after months of mind-bending interrogation greased with a few drugs, compounded by the realisation that they intend to execute him come what may he has provided the cameras with an eleventh hour "Yeah I did it so bite me" confession that contradicts the prosecution evidence and places him as a co-conspirator with the only other man in custody. That's nice and tidy, Hollywood couldn't write it better. I'm all for nabbing terrorists but after a five year wait I'm going to have to write "must try harder" on the FBI's report card.

But it was much easier to write "Say no more."

I won't pick on you on your own blogsite, since I consider home territory to be sacred.
That doesn't mean I won't pick the post to death tho. The "stun belt" article that was offered up is total speculation based on someone elses report of something that has supposed to have happened somewhere. No specifics, no examples. No validity.
The guy most likely is not sane. If you were willing to strap on a belt of explosives or crash a plane into a building, should you be considered sane? Have you read any of the ravings on virtually all the hard-line Islamist sites, and if so, do they smack of clear thinking and truth to you? Or are they extremist insane sounding rants?
I have no doubt that he's a true blue terrorist. I don't think he's making all that stuff up but even if he is, I don't care. He is a terrorist and he'll be one less looking to harm the rest of us, and that can't be bad.

Thanks for the excellent link, I couldn't have put it better myself. I find it most perplexing that the MSM has neglected to comment on what is so blindingly obvious.

Can I say just a little bit more please?

Loved this story speculating that Moussaoui may have been wearing a stun belt in court the other day...

http://kurtnimmo.com/?p=304

That might go some way to explaining his shocking confession

That, plus he's totally out of his tree
