I buy all my DVDs out of a plastic bag in my local pub. The prices compare very favourably with Blockbuster rental charges and they are scratch free. As an added bonus, my command of Cantonese is coming along in leaps and bounds

The Xbox 360 uses standard DVDs at the moment but Microsoft have announced that they are going to release an HD-DVD drive as an add-on.

Are you sure the XBOX 360 is HD-DVD? I thought it used normal ones to get it out the door quicker. Plus it's got christ knows how many CPUs for doing generative stuff so the storage capacity isn't so important.

I could be wrong though.

I think you are on to something there. For some reason Blu-Ray conjures up images of an aquatic animal or some name for a new Royal Navy submarine class, even a Teddy-boy crooner. Don't worry about it though, I'm sure that video on demand over IP will put an end to all this anyway.

It won't be blue ray. People go for horrible incomprehensible acronyms because they sounds so much more advanced and technical. If they had the sense to rename blue ray to &%HH/TTY@PVX-77 it would romp home.
