Fat Freddy’s Drop

Fat Freddy's Drop at the Brixton AcademyFriday night we joined up with Jane, Joy and entourage for a night of dancing at the Brixton Academy. The night’s highlight was New Zealand Reggae/Soul/Hip-Hop fusion band Fat Freddy’s Drop which I’d never encountered before that night but was willing to give it a try. Not at all bad but there was a bit of a droop in the middle of the set when they got stuck in a bit of a morbid soul section but they still managed to go out with a bang. Afterwards we were treated to a selection of excellent reggae DJs and boogied on until 2:00 am. The only odd thing about the evening was how white the audience was and I think I only counted a handful of black faces in the crowd which was predominantly made up of white women in their 20’s. Worth a go but the earth didn’t move for us.

Wolfie, you really need to post more inflamatory stuff. Like which tea is the best tasting, or whether toast tastes better dipped in warm milk or cold milk.

This is like reading the diary of a critic who writes for a small newspaper. I know you don’t want to get into issues like NUKE MECCA or CARTOONS OF MUHAMMAD NAKED Click Here but something a little more exciting than a verbal picture of soggy cigaret butts in a beer soaked ashtray would be really good.

Mostly because I know you’re capable of really good reporting.

You’re absolutely right, I’m sorry to say. I’ll write about it shortly but in the meantime here are some blogs which I think will be right up your street…

The Dick List - I particularly liked the “Women of Persia” post (and its true).

The People’s Cube - Notice how the women of New York are not the slightest bit hot (which explains a lot).

Hadn’t seen Peoples Cube before. I have visited Dick List a few times tho. Good blog and I agree on the Women of Persia post. I particularly agree on the shower portion. :)
