An Apology

Wolfie — June 5, 2006, 5:33 pm

I’d like to offer an unreserved apology to anyone still reading for the utter banality of the previous post. In all honesty I am feeling somewhat despondent with blogging at the moment, it started with technorati suddenly throwing out all my link history and severely downgrading my rating two weeks ago. The result of which is that traffic to this blog has gone down 60% overnight. The experience has made me question why I’m even doing it at all.

In the meantime, a quick round-up of recent news items :

The two leaders of the free world gave a joint press conference. Mr Blair gave an excellent impression of Captain James T Kirk performing Hamlet while the rather confused grey-haired gentleman beside him seemed to be recovering from a recent stroke.

The man who used to be the next president of the United States of America has made a movie about Global Warming where he does a very good impression of a Methodist preacher, the climax comes when the ice-caps melt and we all get baptised into the unholy spirit of post-industrial revolution. Unfortunately he bases most of his arguments around hurricane Katrina, which is not in fact an example of “global warming” induced climate change.

London police stage an armed raid on a house in East London, shooting an unarmed young man in the chest. So far no evidence has been found indicating that they were involved in terrorist activities but the police were operating on intelligence that the lads had built a cyanide bomb. A bit like the one used in the 1993 WTC bombing when the explosion incinerated the cyanide, but any internet savvy jihadist would know that.

Wouldn’t it be great if newspapers, TV channels and politicians apologized every time they said something banal?

If you can’t express whatever is on your mind at the moment in your blog where can you?

It is nice of you to apologise but I don’t think you owe anybody an apology. Blogging is time consuming and we do this outside family and work hours.

No body reads lines better than Captain James Tiberus Kirk. Gotta love him.

Have you heard AlGore when he talks in churches? Specifically ‘Black’ churches? Man oh man, he’s a ‘Hell-fire and brimstone’ speaker. I’m afraid he’s going to have a stroke he gets so worked up, red in the face, blood pressure rises, sweat dripping. Scaaaaaaaary!

At least with a proper blog (as opposed to a DIY thing on a website) you can register on blog search thingies and get comments.

I thought he was shot in the shoulder. One sometimes reads so many variations on news it’s like Chinese whispers.

PS For technical reasons my blog is now http://www.xoggoth.org/pages/bloggoth.html
PPS I noticed that about Brixton when I last went there about a year ago

The apology is all very nice but you neglected the free round of ale to all who read it, not to mention taking us all out for fish and chips. Humph!

In case you haven’t noticed, blogging is down all over. Pub Philosopher has had the same “Flag-ban” post up for the third day now with zero comments, for example. I’ve been checking around on various blogs and comments are almost at a standstill. Visits to my own blog are down to half, along with comments.

You know why? Because SCHOOL IS OUT! It’s PARTY TIME for all those young blogsters and screw the Internet until they calm down a bit… which probably won’t happen again until the fall semester starts.

I play a MMORPG and I see this every year at this time. Play drops off. Not to worry. There’s another factor too. Blogging has exploded on the Internet and it rudely did so just in this last month before school let out. There’s a whole lot more competition out there all of a sudden right when the commenters are on a break.

It’s up to us hard core bloggers to keep each other’s spirits up until our audience comes back. :) so spread around those comments even if you don’t really mean them.

Oh. And NUKE MECCA! http://www.islamanazi.com for all your Islam exposing needs.

I’ve never checked out Techncrati, my rank, or anything else. I suppose I should. Don’t worry, everyone has times when they ask, “Why am I even doing this?”. It always comes back to WHAT you are posting. If it is important to YOU then it just may be important to someone else who might happen by and read it. So it’s worth posting.
