Upgrade Weekend
To all those who have been having problems lately trying to leave comments a sincere apology. This was due to software upgrades by my hosting company which left my spam-checker inoperable. I spent some time over the weekend upgrading my wordpress and all associated scripts and you should have no more problems from now on.
As I was fiddling about and testing the new installation I was vulnerable to comment and trackback spam for only a few minutes but still received dozens of spam posts as a salutary reminder that the internet is swimming with malicious scripts and bots, like Japanese horror stories where we are surrounded by malevolent spirits only separated from harm by our ignorance of their existence.

Hey a real word! Bastards hijacked our website mailer a couple of weeks ago. They should be boiled alive. Haloscan never has these problems as it is not mail based. Why do blog services use mail based systems?
Actually wolfie your site in particular is especially annoying, the only one I know that chucks away the message if you get the ant-spam wrong!
The things I have to do to keep the spammers at bay!
Sorry about the lost messages, I keep looking for the perfect security plug-in, most seem to do that but you know you could copy the message into your buffer before you hit “Say It”. That’s what I do on every blog.
One must remain vigilant.
I know, but I forget. I am senile you know.
