Phone Wars : Dialers at Dawn
The iPhone has finally hit the UK in a fanfare of marketing blitz however its rather high price is putting-off a lot of penny-pinching Brits. I had a little play with one in my local O2 shop on the first day that it was out and I’ll admit that for the first thirty seconds I was wowed by the flashy interface but after that it soon became a little dull. There’s a lot to be said for the iPhone, for me a phone that can surf the internet well is of interest along with email, however the killer fault which puts me off (and is rarely highlighted) is the fact that it doesn’t have that grand-daddy of computer killer-features - “copy and paste”. No really, how easy is it going to be to compose an email without that? Next!
Its not all bad though. The advent of the iPhone has at least put the wind up the rather complacent mobile phone industry and at last they are putting some effort into some interesting challengers. Particularly using Microsoft’s much maligned Pocket Mobile operating system. This is a classic case of a novel competitor pushing the envelope in a stagnating industry and the comeback punches are certainly interesting.
New phones to look out for come from HTC, which is releasing new Pocket Mobile devices with their “touch-flow” technology and high-end features, such as the Touch Dual and Touch Cruise, and for the more style conscious LG have a new model based on their Prada phone, the ks20. So don’t dust-off your bank-card just yet.

These gadgets are too expensive, I like the things they do, but I could not afford one. My cheapo phone only cost £16.00
No cut and paste? Well, that’s that out then.
Quite! I was hoping to find a phone that I could easily blog or email from when commuting but that could be agonising without such a basic editing feature. What were Apple thinking?
