Last night we watched “The Pianist” (Roman Polanski). I will admit I was a little cool to the prospect initially as I was not really in the mood for a heavy-weight movie but I was pleasantly surprised by the out-come as I was easily drawn into this excellent movie. Its very well acted, scripted and [...]

Friday evening we went to the Barbican with Sandra and Danny to see Madrid’s Radio Tarifa. An exciting fusion of flamenco, ancient Iberian, Moorish, Yiddish, North African and Middle Eastern music, evoking the past whilst remaining enthrallingly contemporary. In spite of their casual and understated attitude they kept the crowd utterly enthralled. A cool evening [...]

I saw the new X-Men movie this weekend. I thought it was an improvement on the previous movie with more intricate plotting and better paced although it was flawed by a rather contrived death in the central cast near the end. Many critics has prised it for parallels with contemporary attitudes towards bigotry but it [...]

I went to the Royal Academy with Helena to see the Dresden Exhibition for myself.
It is an interesting display of European artists from about 1650 to as late as the tail end of the 18th c. The only thing which really seems to bind these artists is their incredible meticulousness and talent.
My main complaint overall [...]
